Role overview
The Workshop Technician maintains, services, repairs, and sets up golf course maintenance machinery and equipment.
The role aims to minimize equipment downtime and support daily golf course operations.
Reports to the Equipment Manager or Workshop Supervisor and sits within Golf Course Maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on golf course maintenance equipment.
- Set mowing equipment cutting heights and grind bed knives and reels.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs.
- Conduct preventive inspections, maintain service records, and keep equipment safe and ready for daily use.
- Monitor equipment performance and report issues to the Equipment Manager.
- Keep the workshop clean, organized, and safe; follow health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Assist with parts inventory and equipment maintenance schedules.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience as a golf course maintenance technician or in a similar role.
- Experience setting mowing equipment cutting heights and proven bed knife and reel grinding experience.
- Strong knowledge of golf course maintenance machinery servicing and repair.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues; basic understanding of electrical systems and engine maintenance.
- Good communication and teamwork skills; able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred qualifications
- A diploma, technical certificate, or vocational training in mechanical engineering, automotive technology, or a related field is preferred.
- A valid driving license is an advantage.
