What you’ll do

  • As a Field Engineer, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping critical telecommunications networks running at their best. You’ll work across fixed and mobile networks, installing, commissioning and maintaining network infrastructure that connects customers and businesses every day. Whether you're working at height on network sites, supporting customer solutions, or resolving complex technical issues, you’ll make a direct impact while working in a safety-first environment that values continuous improvement and operational excellence. You’ll install, commission and maintain fixed and mobile network equipment, products and services to the highest standards. You’ll diagnose faults, restore services and ensure network performance meets agreed service levels. You’ll work across a wide range of technologies including mobile networks, transmission systems, microwave radio, fibre and copper infrastructure, and customer network equipment. You’ll collaborate with field delivery teams, network operations centres, project managers, technical vendors and business customers to deliver outstanding service. You’ll champion safe working practices by following health, safety and quality standards at all times. You’ll identify opportunities to improve processes, challenge existing ways of working and help drive operational excellence. You’ll communicate professionally with customers and colleagues, building trusted relationships and delivering a great customer experience. You’ll participate in a 24/7 callout rota and be flexible in supporting business needs across different locations when required.

Experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting telecommunications and network technologies. Knowledge of technologies such as Cisco, Juniper or ADVA equipment, DWDM, Ethernet, 3G/4G/5G networks, microwave radio, DC power systems, fibre and copper cabling. Someone who enjoys both independent working and collaborating as part of a wider team. Comfortable working in a physically active role, including working at height, climbing structures, rooftop environments and outdoor locations. A strong problem solver who can remain focused under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively. A customer-focused communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills. Adaptable, curious and keen to learn new technologies and skills. IT literate with good PC skills. Holder of a full UK/EU Category B driving licence. Able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC) and Advanced Climber/Tower Rescue certification. Ideally qualified to HND or Degree level in a relevant technical discipline. Additional certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP or experience with wireless networking, LAN/WiFi, unified communications or data networking would be advantageous.
