Role Overview
A VMC Machine Operator and Programmer sets up, operates, and programs vertical machining centers to produce precision parts safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Read engineering drawings, work orders, and GD&T specifications.
- Create, edit, and prove out CNC programs using G-code and CAM software.
- Set up the VMC, including tools, fixtures, work offsets, and cutting parameters.
- Operate the machine and monitor machining cycles; adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets as needed.
- Inspect parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMM equipment.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues.
- Maintain production records, follow preventive-maintenance schedules, and keep the work area clean.
- Follow safety procedures and quality-system requirements.
Typical Qualifications
- Experience operating and setting up VMCs; programming experience preferred.
- Knowledge of CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, or Siemens.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring tools.
- Familiarity with CAM software and machining materials, tools, and processes.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to workplace safety.
Physical Requirements
Stand for extended periods and handle machine components or materials, with lifting requirements depending on the workplace.
Compensation
- Pay: AED 2,000.00 - AED 3,500.00 per month.
