Vice President Operations & Maintenance Power

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive O&M strategy for the power sector in alignment with EtihadWE overall objectives.
• Provide leadership in setting long-term operational goals and performance metrics for power generation, transmission, and distribution assets.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure efficient operations, reduced downtime, and optimal utilization of resources.
• Ensure that O&M strategies align with regulatory and environmental compliance requirements, industry best practices, and technological innovations.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of all power generation and distribution facilities, including power plants, substations, transformers, and transmission lines.
• Ensure the reliable, safe, and efficient generation and delivery of electrical power to consumers, optimizing system performance and minimizing interruptions.
• Develop and enforce protocols to manage emergencies, outages, and equipment failures, ensuring quick recovery and minimal operational impact.
• Supervise the scheduling and coordination of operational activities to meet both peak demand and regulatory requirements.
• Lead all preventive and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring that equipment and systems are properly maintained to prevent unexpected failures.
• Manage the lifecycle of assets, identifying opportunities for capital improvements, retrofits, and upgrades to extend the life and enhance the efficiency of equipment.
• Ensure that maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulations, reducing downtime and maximizing asset availability.
• Oversee the implementation of predictive and condition-based maintenance technologies to improve asset performance and reduce unscheduled outages.
• Champion a culture of safety within the O&M team, ensuring all operations comply with workplace safety standards and regulations.
• Ensure that all power operations adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations, minimizing the environmental impact of power facilities.
• Oversee risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to power operations, including financial, operational, and reputational risks.
• Develop and manage the annual O&M budget for power generation and distribution facilities, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining high performance standards.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies, including optimizing resource utilization and reducing waste.
• Manage procurement and vendor contracts related to power O&M, ensuring best value for goods and services and compliance with EtihadWE policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
• 12 to 16 years experience in power generation, operations, and maintenance, with a leadership role.
• Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent financial management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of initiative, self-motivation, and accountability.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to align O&M initiatives with broader business objectives.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Deep technical knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
