Utility Systems Technician

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain water supply, drainage, electrical distribution, and HVAC equipment.
• Inspect systems, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot utility equipment.
• Identify faults, leaks, unusual conditions, and safety hazards; respond to maintenance requests and assist with repairs.
• Monitor system readings and equipment performance; maintain inspection, maintenance, and equipment-status records.
• Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of utility equipment where required.
• Coordinate with facilities and maintenance teams and support energy and water conservation.
• Follow safety procedures and applicable regulations; maintain tools, equipment, and utility areas.
• Report major faults, recommend corrective actions, and assist with emergency response to utility failures.

Requirements

• Technical certificate, diploma, or equivalent training in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in utility systems, building maintenance, or facilities operations is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of water, electrical, ventilation, and other building utility systems.
• Ability to perform routine inspections and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance and technical documentation.
• Understanding of workplace safety requirements and safe equipment handling.
• Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work independently and with maintenance teams.
• Relevant technical licenses or certifications where required by local regulations.
