Company overview

Joby is developing a piloted electric air taxi, progressing aircraft certification, scaling manufacturing, and preparing for commercial service in the United States and Dubai.

Role overview

The UAE Continuing Airworthiness Manager is the GCAA-nominated post holder for Joby’s UAE Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization under CAR-M Subpart G and S-1.CAMO.

The role manages continuing airworthiness for the Joby S4 fleet under the UAE AOC and reports to the Accountable Manager.

The CAMO determines required maintenance and timing; the CAR 145 AMO performs the maintenance. The post holder independently oversees the maintenance organization and owns the CAME, maintenance program, directives, defects, MEL, and records.

The post holder is Joby’s primary continuing airworthiness interface with the GCAA and the type certificate holder’s US engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure S4 aircraft remain airworthy and are released to fly only when continuing airworthiness conditions are met.
  • Own and maintain the CAME and supporting procedures, including drafting, submission, revision control, and alignment with the AOC and approval terms.
  • Develop and secure GCAA approval for the S4 Aircraft Maintenance Program; drive effectiveness through a reliability program and data-led amendments.
  • Assess and track airworthiness directives, service bulletins, modifications, and repairs, ensuring changes use approved data.
  • Plan and order maintenance from the CAR 145 AMO; audit and oversee its continuing airworthiness work.
  • Control defects, deferred and repetitive items, MEL rectification intervals, and the aircraft technical log system.
  • Maintain continuing airworthiness records for life-limited and time-controlled components, propulsion and battery systems, configuration, and mass and balance.
  • Establish airworthiness review capability under CAR-M Subpart I, authorize review staff, and issue or recommend airworthiness review certificates.
  • Coordinate continuing airworthiness instructions, service information, occurrence data exchange, and GCAA type-validation support with the type certificate holder.
  • Support compliance monitoring, safety management, occurrence reporting, and just-culture commitments.
  • Support fleet scheduling, availability notifications, and planning with Flight Operations and the Operations Control Centre.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead the CAMO team across technical services, maintenance planning, and records; maintain staff competence and report fleet status and risk.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Degree in aeronautical, mechanical, or related engineering, or equivalent; alternatively, a GCAA CAR 66, EASA Part-66, or FAA A&P aircraft maintenance license supplemented by relevant further education.
  • At least five years of continuing airworthiness experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role within a CAMO, Part-CAMO, or equivalent commercial-operations support experience.
  • Additional required qualifications in the source description are cut off after “Ability to meet the knowledge, bac” and cannot be determined.
