Company overview

Joby Aviation is developing a piloted electric air taxi and is preparing aircraft certification, manufacturing scale-up, and commercial service plans in the US and Dubai.

Role overview

Serve as UAE Continuing Airworthiness Manager and GCAA-nominated post holder for Joby's CAMO under its Air Operator Certificate.

Manage and supervise continuing airworthiness for the Joby S4 fleet in the UAE, ensuring aircraft fly only when airworthy and maintained under the approved program.

The role reports to the Accountable Manager and serves as the primary continuing airworthiness interface with the GCAA and US type certificate holder engineering teams.

The post holder determines required maintenance; the CAR 145 AMO determines how it is performed. The role owns the CAME, maintenance program, compliance controls, defects, and records, and oversees AMO maintenance.

Airworthiness and maintenance control

  • Act as the GCAA-nominated post holder under CAR-M Subpart G and S-1.CAMO and ensure each S4 aircraft is airworthy before release to fly.
  • Own and maintain the CAME and its supporting procedures, submissions, and revisions.
  • Develop the S4 Aircraft Maintenance Program, obtain GCAA approval, and drive improvements through reliability data.
  • Assess and track airworthiness directives, service bulletins, modifications, and repairs using approved data.
  • Plan and order CAR 145 AMO maintenance and audit continuing airworthiness tasks.
  • Control defects, deferred and repetitive items, MEL intervals, and the technical log system.
  • Maintain records for component life limits, propulsion and battery systems, aircraft configuration, and mass and balance.
  • Establish CAR-M Subpart I review capability, authorize staff, and issue or recommend review certificates.

Safety, coordination, and team leadership

  • Coordinate continuing airworthiness with the type certificate holder and support GCAA type validation.
  • Support compliance monitoring, safety management, occurrence reporting, and just culture commitments.
  • Support Flight Operations and the Operations Control Centre with fleet scheduling and availability planning.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead CAMO staff in technical services, maintenance planning, and records; oversee competence and training.
  • Report fleet airworthiness status and risk to the Accountable Manager and act as the primary GCAA contact.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Degree in aeronautical, mechanical, or related engineering, or equivalent; alternatively, an aircraft maintenance licence such as GCAA CAR 66, EASA Part-66, or FAA A&P supplemented by relevant further education.
  • At least five years of continuing airworthiness experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or managerial CAMO or Part-CAMO role, or equivalent commercial operations experience.
  • Meet the knowledge, background, and experience criteria for a GCAA-nominated CAMO post holder and be accepted by the GCAA.
