Role overview

Full-time Transport Manager role in Dubai focused on heavy vehicles, equipment, fleet operations, and direct business development.

The successful candidate is expected to generate business directly rather than rely on equipment-rental companies or brokers.

Commercial and business development

  • Secure direct contracts with construction, infrastructure, roadworks, demolition, and other corporate clients.
  • Find profitable work for excavators, rollers or compactors, bulldozers, heavy vehicles, and 45-foot trailers.
  • Build relationships with procurement managers, project managers, site engineers, and construction decision-makers.
  • Win work in earthmoving, material loading, construction-waste transportation, soil removal, and related services.
  • Research UAE market rates and quote hourly, daily, per-trip, and project-based work.
  • Identify customers for white plaster or gypsum loading and other material-handling services.
  • Identify approved Dubai disposal facilities, verify fees, and calculate transportation and disposal costs.

Fleet, costs, and reporting

  • Prepare job costing, revenue forecasts, operating budgets, and profitability reports by vehicle and equipment.
  • Maximize equipment utilization while reducing idle time, unnecessary trips, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and operational losses.
  • Manage drivers, operators, vehicle scheduling, route planning, preventive maintenance, registration, permits, and UAE regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor fuel, tolls, driver overtime, maintenance, disposal charges, and customer payments.
  • Negotiate service agreements and follow up on quotations, purchase orders, invoices, and outstanding payments.
  • Submit weekly reports on fleet utilization, leads, contracts, revenue, expenses, and profitability.
  • Develop a pipeline of qualified direct customers and secure profitable work for available equipment.
  • Submit a practical business development plan with target customers, market rates, and expected monthly revenue.
  • Maintain clear records of quotations, confirmed jobs, operating expenses, and net profitability.

Experience and skills

  • Proven experience as a Transport Manager, Fleet Manager, Heavy Equipment Manager, or in a similar role in the UAE.
  • Knowledge of construction and earthmoving operations and the commercial use of heavy equipment.
  • Practical knowledge of excavators, rollers or compactors, bulldozers, heavy trucks, and 45-foot trailers.
  • Ability to generate new business and secure direct corporate contracts.
  • Knowledge of Dubai construction-waste disposal procedures, relevant permits, and facility charges.
  • Strong commercial negotiation, quotation preparation, job costing, and profit-margin calculation skills.
  • Experience managing drivers, equipment operators, fleet maintenance, fuel expenses, and transport documentation.
  • Familiarity with UAE transport regulations and relevant authority requirements; strong communication, reporting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Existing client contacts are highly desirable; experience in both fleet operations and business development is preferred.

Workplace

  • Work location is in person in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
