Coordinate and implement activities and programs for the needs of children and adults with illnesses and/or disabling conditions.

Foster inclusion in general recreation programming through developmentally appropriate crafts, games, and other planned activities while ensuring safe, accessible, and rewarding experiences.

Supervise therapeutic recreation participants within Parks and Recreation facilities and programs.

Provide therapeutic recreation services in community settings.

Describe and present therapeutic recreation services to consumers, families, and other interested parties through the community, including the school systems.

Provide outstanding communication and customer service as you work throughout the community and with the citizens of Chatham County.

May supervise other staff in therapeutic recreation activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Education, or a related field, and At least two (2) years of experience in therapeutic recreation that includes program/activity oversight and supervision; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Must be certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or be eligible for the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) exam.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Education, or a related field, and
• At least two (2) years of experience in therapeutic recreation that includes program/activity oversight and supervision; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Must be certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or be eligible for the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) exam.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

CHATHAM COUNTY BENEFITS PLANS Eligibility for benefits begins on your date of hire. Full-time employees working a regular schedule of 30 or more hours per week are eligible for County benefits. Part-time, seasonal, and temporary employees are not eligible to participate in the County benefit plan. The Medical FSA has a rollover feature equal to the annual Federal maximum.
