Test Automation Co-op - XPression (Winter/Spring Term - January 2027 - August 2027)

Co-op role

What you’ll do

• Develop and execute automated test software using test tools and scripting languages.
• Collaborate with automation developers, product software developers, and product verification specialists on XPression.
• Create custom-built applications and adjust existing practices and policies to test shipping-product quality.
• Investigate issues, ask questions, and solve problems while learning the product and its code.

What you know

• Current upper-level (third-, fourth-, or fifth-year) Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science student in a program with a co-op option.
• Academic performance must meet NSERC requirements, with a B average or above.
• Programming experience in a Windows environment.

Assets and beneficial experience

• Test automation languages listed as assets include JScript, Java, Visual Basic, Python, Delphi, and other scripting languages.
• HTML5 web-services experience is an asset.
• Automated test-tool experience with TestComplete, Robot Framework, or Jenkins is an asset.
• Experience with Unreal, Unity, or Adobe After Effects is an asset.
• SQL database experience, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server, is beneficial.
• Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Cursor, or Copilot is beneficial.
• Broadcast video-equipment experience and software testing-process experience are beneficial.

Workplace and schedule

• Hybrid position with occasional on-site days at the Ottawa Campus in Nepean, Ontario.
• The co-op term is eight months, from January 2027 through August 2027.

Compensation

• Pay ranges from $24 to $35 per hour, based on experience.
