Job purpose
Manage cash and cheque transactions at the teller counter and provide quality customer service while following operational controls and avoiding cash excesses or shortages.
Duties and responsibilities
- Meet transaction-processing standards and maintain high customer-service standards.
- Process local- and foreign-currency deposits and withdrawals and balance cash at day end.
- Verify signatures on payment cheques and required authority approvals before disbursement.
- Accept and process clearing and collection cheques; issue pay orders and drafts.
- Monitor cash deposits and note quality to detect unusual transactions, money laundering, or forgery.
- Raise security concerns and unusual transactions with the appropriate branch leaders.
- Maintain sufficient branch and till cash and verify large cash holdings or specific denominations.
- Act as custodian of the cash safe in the vault.
- Sort soiled notes and deposit them at the Central Bank.
- Meet assigned assets and liabilities product targets and perform other consistent duties assigned by management.
Education and experience
- Higher secondary school education.
- 2 to 3 years' experience as a teller.
- Technical knowledge of negotiable instruments such as cheques.
Other required skills
- Knowledge of banking operations and techniques.
- Written and spoken communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Customer-care, organizing, and planning skills.
- PC skills, including familiarity with banking software.
