Technical Specialist

Job purpose

Project and facility support

• Support engineering and operational improvements and facility optimization across recycling and waste treatment facilities.
• Evaluate technologies and equipment for waste processing, recycling, landfill management, wastewater treatment, and plant production.
• Support sustainability and resource recovery through technical analysis and project execution.
• Contribute engineering input to project planning, feasibility reviews, and design reviews.
• Support project cost estimates, budget tracking, procurement evaluations, expenditure monitoring, and variance reporting.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and evaluate equipment and contractor quotations.
• Support asset lifecycle management and maintenance planning initiatives.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, HSE, Procurement, contractors, consultants, vendors, and operational teams.
• Support regulatory inspections, permit applications, and compliance activities when required.

Engineering delivery

• Assist with engineering projects from planning through commissioning and handover, including minor upgrades and medium-scale capital projects.
• Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and equipment submittals.
• Inspect sites to monitor project progress, quality, and compliance with approved designs.
• Support troubleshooting of equipment and systems in recycling, wastewater treatment, landfill, and SRF production facilities.
• Coordinate installation, testing, commissioning, and performance verification.
• Track project schedules, risks, technical issues, and corrective actions; prepare technical reports and project updates.
• Monitor contractor activities for compliance with project requirements and safety standards.
• Analyze process performance data to identify operational improvements; share technical knowledge with colleagues and site teams.

Technical and behavioral competencies

• Technical competencies include project coordination, waste management and recycling processes, mechanical and process equipment, drawing and specification review, planning, contractor management, commissioning, root cause analysis, data reporting, and environmental compliance.
• MS Office and engineering software applications are listed as competencies.
• Behavioral competencies include planning, problem solving, accountability, attention to detail, teamwork, adaptability, communication, continuous improvement, and stakeholder focus.
• The role supports multiple facilities processing municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, industrial waste, wastewater, landfill operations, and SRF production.

Experience and qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in project engineering, waste management, recycling facilities, industrial plants, wastewater treatment, or related industries.
• Experience in MRF, construction and demolition recycling, landfill operations, SRF/RDF plants, or environmental infrastructure projects.
• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, is desirable.
• A master's degree or relevant professional certification is listed; mandatory status is not specified.
• Listed skills/training include project coordination, technical documentation, engineering calculations, contractor supervision, MS Office, AutoCAD drawing reading or Primavera/MS Project, commissioning, waste processing technology, and HSE certifications.
