Role summary

The Pension Application Development Team seeks a Technical Lead, API & Integration Engineering for product development of the Digital Insight Services Platform.

The role owns API integration design and delivery, guides developers, and balances hands-on engineering with delivery leadership.

Development and integration

  • Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of API and integration solutions; mentor and develop team members.
  • Build RESTful APIs and integration services with .NET Core and Azure serverless services, or equivalent AWS or GCP capabilities.
  • Lead integrations between modern digital platforms and legacy systems, and decouple digital channels from core systems.
  • Design secure token-based APIs using JWT, OAuth/OIDC, managed identity, Key Vault, private endpoints, and least-privilege access.
  • Implement retries, idempotency, asynchronous workflows, messaging, and caching.
  • Partner with frontend teams using React, Next.js, or comparable technologies.
  • Design flows for downstream workflows, audits, status tracking, reconciliation, and eventual consistency.
  • Use Redis, materialized views, projections, or equivalent read-model strategies to improve performance and reduce legacy-system load.
  • Maintain secure, high-quality code through reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD.

Delivery and collaboration

  • Act as a senior technical reference for API integration decisions across development squads and support an inclusive, respectful team environment.
  • Work with Product Owners and Business Analysts to clarify requirements, shape technical options, identify dependencies, and deliver product outcomes from discovery through delivery.
  • Communicate technical risks and decisions to technical and non-technical partners.
  • Establish API quality gates covering unit, integration, contract, API, performance, security, and regression tests and release readiness.
  • Design low-disruption releases using backward-compatible changes, versioning discipline, feature toggles where appropriate, and operational runbooks.

Role capabilities

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to developers.
  • Guide API and integration design and implementation decisions and support secure, stable, maintainable services.
  • The posting references .NET Core, Azure serverless services, or equivalent AWS/GCP capabilities, and React, Next.js, or comparable frontend frameworks.

Benefits and workplace culture

  • HOOPP highlights a defined benefit pension plan, learning and development, wellness offerings, and a people-focused culture.
  • Permanent employees are eligible for company-paid extended health and dental benefits; optional post-retirement health and dental benefits are described as subsidized.

About HOOPP
