Teacher Assistant

Role purpose

Instruction and classroom support

• Assist with learning experiences from the DSGD-approved curriculum and coordinate assigned instructional duties with classroom teachers.
• Prepare lesson materials, displays, equipment, and demonstrations; present subject matter under teacher direction.
• Tutor individuals and small groups, reinforce learning concepts, and provide extra assistance to students with special needs.
• Prepare lesson outlines and plans for assigned subjects and submit them to teachers for review.
• Cover classes during short-term teacher absences under the Head of Year's guidance.

Supervision and school activities

• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, and on field trips.
• Organize and supervise recreational activities and participate in extracurricular programs and school events.
• Assist with bus loading and unloading; take attendance and maintain attendance records.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, working groups, and school-sponsored activities.
• Distribute books and other teaching materials, administer tests and assignments, and collect completed work.
• Collect money for school-related projects and initiate an extracurricular club for at least one quarter when required.
• Document student projects with photographs or coordinate with the social media committee as described in the role profile.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in teaching from an accredited institution.
• At least two years of teaching experience.
• Required teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE and compliance with the school's professional teacher education requirements.
• Child care and protection knowledge.

Required skills and knowledge

• Knowledge of school assessment methods and current curriculum developments; effective teaching and learning practices for individual student needs.
• Management, communication, presentation, organization, multitasking, prioritization, and deadline-management skills.
• Excellent spoken and written English; ability to use relevant computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
• Safeguarding and child welfare awareness, behaviour management, accurate data collection, record keeping, and report preparation.
• Professionalism, teamwork, interpersonal skills, flexibility, and ability to work with cultural differences.

Preschool assistant profile duties

• Bachelor's degree in Lic. Educación Preescolar or equivalent is required in the preschool profile.
• TKT Training Course is listed in the preschool profile.
• Prior experience working with young children in an educational or care setting is preferred.
