Overview
Royal Gujrat Restaurant is seeking an experienced **Tandoor Maker** to join our kitchen team in Abu Dhabi.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking traditional tandoor breads while maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, food safety, and hygiene.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment and takes pride in authentic Pakistani cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook naan, roti, kulcha, paratha, and other tandoor breads.
- Operate and maintain the tandoor oven safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all breads are prepared to company quality and presentation standards.
- Prepare dough and monitor fermentation as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the tandoor station and equipment.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures at all times.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Monitor ingredient stock and report shortages to supervisors.
- Minimize food waste and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Assist with other kitchen duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience as a Tandoor Maker in a restaurant or hotel.
- Experience preparing naan, roti, kulcha, and other tandoor breads.
- Knowledge of tandoor oven operation and maintenance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Basic English communication skills.
- Urdu or Hindi language skills preferred.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Pakistani or South Asian restaurant.
- Basic Arabic communication skills are an advantage.
- Food Safety or HACCP certification is preferred.
