Kitchen Helper

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
• Support assigned kitchen sections such as tandoor, grill, curry, BBQ, sweets, or naan production.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and storage areas.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen tools promptly during and after service.
• Receive deliveries, check stock, and organize inventory under supervisor guidance.
• Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
• Dispose of waste and maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen environment.
• Set up and clean down kitchen stations before and after service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards at all times.
• Report equipment issues, low stock, or safety concerns to supervisors.
• Support kitchen operations during busy service hours while maintaining quality standards.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift moderate loads safely.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to follow instructions.
• Team player with a positive attitude.
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
• Basic English communication skills preferred.
• Urdu or Hindi language skills are an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Pakistani or South Asian restaurant.
• Familiarity with tandoor or naan-making support.
• Basic HACCP or Food Safety certification.
