Role overview

Tailoring and garment care

• Sew, stitch, alter, and repair employee uniforms, including hemming, resizing, button and zipper replacement, and patching.
• Handle guest garment alteration and repair requests in line with hotel service standards.
• Ensure uniforms are fitted, neat, clean, and presentable before issue.
• Inspect garments and linen for damage, defects, stains, and wear before repairs.
• Repair and maintain hotel linen, including sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, tablecloths, and napkins.
• Take accurate body measurements for uniform fitting and alterations when required.

Equipment and daily operations

• Operate and maintain sewing machines and tailoring equipment safely and efficiently.
• Complete tailoring work within required turnaround times.
• Maintain records of uniform alterations, repairs, and issued items.
• Coordinate with the Uniform Room Attendant and Laundry team for daily operations.
• Keep tailoring materials and equipment clean, organized, and properly stored.
• Monitor sewing supplies and report shortages of thread, buttons, zippers, fabric, and other materials.
• Follow hotel policies, procedures, health and safety standards, and departmental SOPs.
• Handle guest garments and hotel uniforms with care, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Qualifications

• High school certificate or vocational training in tailoring or garment construction.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Tailor.
• Good knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, and fabric types.
• Experience operating industrial and domestic sewing machines.
• Hotel laundry or uniform-room experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel is an advantage.
