Role overview
Leads dimensional controllers and structural fitters performing dimensional checks in line with production procedures, HSE rules, regulations, and project requirements.
Works with the Dimensional Superintendent, Structural Supervisor, and project team to deliver assigned surveys safely, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and assign work to dimensional control personnel; assist with their training and implementation of dimensional control procedures.
- Verify dimensions, measurements, cutting, and preparation for blocks and panels, and confirm inspected items are within tolerance.
- Ensure production completes corrective actions requested by the dimensional control team.
- Inspect and maintain surveying equipment and tools, ensuring they are safe and calibrated.
- Record site measurements and attend safety and daily toolbox meetings.
- Ensure project work complies with HSES regulations and project requirements.
Requirements
- Technical diploma or equivalent qualification (apprentice).
- At least 15 years of experience in offshore oil and gas construction, shipyard, or ship-repair industry.
- Experience using surveying equipment and tools; ability to read engineering and fabrication shop drawings.
- Able to produce draft dimensional control reports and use basic trigonometry and scientific calculators.
- Good oral and written English communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction safety, permit-to-work procedures, quality issues, and relevant safety standards.
- Qualified Dimensional Surveyor or equivalent qualification is a plus.
