Role overview
Supports technical upkeep of the Safeen transshipment fleet under local, class, and flag rules and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and control marine engineering team activities and support asset repair and maintenance.
- Assist with vessel class surveys and develop equipment-specific maintenance plans.
- Assist with budgets and annual procurement schedules, especially major project expenditures.
- Monitor major repairs and dry-docking projects.
- Implement preventive and scheduled maintenance across vessels according to shipbuilder and manufacturer specifications.
- Review vessel and equipment modifications and critical spare-part strategies.
- Identify reliability improvements, analyze deviations, and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare spare-parts, materials, and labor-hour details for maintenance.
- Coordinate equipment testing, trials, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
- Investigate chronic failures, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective solutions.
- Communicate safety, health, and environmental policies and ensure fleet compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Address safety risks and restore safe working conditions where applicable.
Qualifications
- Class I Certificate of Competency or Chief Engineer Foreign Going qualification.
- At least 6 years of experience, including a minimum of 2 years as Chief Engineer.
- Ship management, international convention regulations, ISM Code, ISPS Code, and MLC skills are required.
- Proficient English is required; Arabic is an additional value.
- Proven expertise in safe, economic, and efficient vessel operation and organizational management systems.
Experience scope
Experience includes timely completion of project phases, budget control, and documented Planned Maintenance Systems for project assets.
