**Position Overview:** The Storekeeper is responsible for managing all construction materials, tools, consumables, and equipment at the project site.
The role ensures accurate stock control, proper storage, timely issuance, and compliance with company and project procedures.
Key Responsibilities
· **Inventory Management** — Maintain accurate stock levels, conduct regular stock counts, and update records.
· **Material Receiving** — Receive materials, verify quantities and quality against delivery notes and purchase orders.
· **Material Issuance** — Issue materials to site teams based on approved requests.
· **Documentation & Records** — Maintain GRN, MRN, stock registers, and daily reports.
· **Storage & Organization** — Ensure proper labeling, safe storage, and easy retrieval of materials.
· **Coordination** — Coordinate with procurement, site engineers, and suppliers for material requirements.
· **Safety Compliance** — Follow safety procedures and ensure proper handling of materials.
· **Reporting** — Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports.
Accountability
- Storekeeper will be accountable for
- Maintaining 100% accurate stock records through daily updates, stock counts, and reconciliation.
- Ensuring all incoming materials match the Purchase Order, Delivery Note, and quality requirements.
- Issuing materials only against approved Material Request (MR) or Site Engineer instructions.
- Maintaining **GRN** (Good Receiving Note), **MRN** (Material Requisition Note), stock registers, and daily/weekly inventory reports.
- Ensuring proper labeling, safe storage, and organized layout of the store.
- Coordinating with procurement, site engineers, and suppliers for timely material availability.
- Following safety standards for handling, storing, and issuing materials.
- Maintaining records of tools, equipment, and returnable items.
- Submitting daily stock updates, shortage alerts, and consumption reports to the Site Engineer/Project Manager.
Authorities
- Storekeeper is authorized to
- Accept or Reject Materials — can reject materials that do not match PO specifications or quality standards (with Engineer approval).
- Control Material Issuance — authorized to issue materials only against approved requests.
- Maintain Stock Levels — can raise alerts for low stock and request replenishment.
- Manage Store Layout — full authority to organize, label, and maintain the store area.
- Tool & Equipment Release — can issue tools and track returns based on company procedures.
- Stop Unsafe Handling — Can refuse to issue or accept materials if safety rules are violated.
