Role Overview
Oversee environmental, health, and safety controls for electrical and substation construction activities.
Site Inspections and Risk Management
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis for transformer installation, cable pulling, and switchyard gantry erection.
- Manage and audit the Permit-to-Work system before personnel enter energized zones.
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures so equipment is de-energized and safe for maintenance or installation.
Technical Safety Oversight
- Ensure tools and PPE meet voltage requirements and are properly tested.
- Verify correct temporary grounding or earthing during construction.
- Oversee shoring and underground utility detection during substation trenching and excavation.
Training and Compliance
- Conduct site-specific safety orientations for contractors and visitors.
- Lead daily toolbox talks focused on high-risk activities scheduled for the day.
- Lead root cause analysis for near misses or accidents and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
- Ability to conduct detailed Job Safety Analysis for transformer installation, cable pulling, and switchyard gantry erection.
- Knowledge of Permit-to-Work and Lockout/Tagout procedures for energized work zones.
- Knowledge of electrical safety, PPE requirements, and temporary grounding or earthing controls.
- Knowledge of excavation safety, shoring, and underground utility detection for substation construction.
- Ability to conduct contractor and visitor safety inductions and lead toolbox talks.
- Ability to lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions following incidents or near misses.
