SOC responsibilities
- Perform L2 monitoring, triage, investigation, and response to alerts and incidents in a 24x7 SOC.
- Correlate logs across SIEM, EDR/XDR, networks, servers, cloud, identity, and security applications; investigate security incidents and determine scope, impact, and root cause.
- Threat hunt, analyze intelligence and IOCs, and create, validate, and tune SIEM detections and alerts.
- Support critical incidents, escalate complex cases with evidence, and coordinate containment and remediation with technology teams.
- Validate monitoring-source health; maintain incident records, reports, timelines, advisories, playbooks, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
- Use scripting to automate SOC work; perform network and packet analysis; contribute to dashboards, metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement.
Communication and documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Prepare clear incident reports, investigation summaries, root-cause analyses, advisories, and management updates.
- Communicate technical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders and contribute to SOC documentation and dashboards.
Preferred certification
- Security certifications such as SC-200, Security+, CySA+, CEH, GCIH, GCIA, or equivalent are preferred.
