Position summary

Design, develop, integrate, and validate aerospace control systems and embedded solutions.

The role supports next-generation avionics, engine control, and actuation systems, with an engine and power system focus.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop system requirements, architectures, and traceability using DOORS or DOORS NG.
  • Perform functional decomposition, requirements allocation, verification, validation, and certification support.
  • Design and analyze control systems using classical and modern techniques, including PID, Root Locus, Bode analysis, and digital control.
  • Develop MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow models for plant modeling, simulation, auto-code generation, and verification.
  • Support SIL/HIL testing, model validation, and system integration.
  • Design and interface with sensors and actuators, including sensors for speed, position, pressure, temperature, torque, current, voltage, and vibration, plus motors, valves, and solenoids.
  • Develop embedded C software for real-time control applications.
  • Support aerospace compliance activities under ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254, and DO-160.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, Control Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–12+ years of experience in aerospace systems engineering, control systems, embedded software, avionics, propulsion controls, or a related domain.
  • Strong fundamentals in electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical systems and thermodynamics, sensors and actuators, signal processing, classical and modern control theory, embedded systems, and real-time applications.
  • Embedded C is mandatory.

Technical skills

  • Control systems: PID control, Root Locus and frequency response analysis, digital control systems, and sensor and actuator dynamics.
  • Model-based development: MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, plant modeling, control algorithm development, auto-code generation, model verification and validation, and SIL/HIL testing.
  • Systems engineering: ARP4754A/ARP4761, DOORS/DOORS NG, functional decomposition, architecture definition, requirements traceability, verification and validation planning, compliance and certification, MBSE/SysML, and configuration management.
  • Embedded software: Embedded C, basic C++, memory management, interrupt handling, scheduling, bootloaders, performance optimization, WCET fundamentals, and RTOS awareness.
  • Processor experience includes ARM Cortex, TI C2000, or PowerPC; communication protocols include RS232, RS422/485, ARINC 429, CAN, and preferred AFDX.

Preferred qualifications and attributes

  • Preferred: MBSE, aerospace cybersecurity, AFDX networking, gas turbine engine controls and dynamics, and aerospace, avionics, FADEC, or actuation system development experience.
  • Desired: strong analytical and problem-solving skills, multidisciplinary systems thinking, effective communication and technical documentation, and ability to work in cross-functional aerospace engineering teams.
