Role overview

Develop software for an industrial microscopy inspection appliance and its companion PC application, from microcontroller firmware to Windows software.

The team creates optical test and measurement equipment for telecommunications lab and manufacturing use.

Responsibilities

  • Specify, model, simulate, test, and verify imaging and optical inspection systems.
  • Contribute to architecture and requirements across firmware, PC software, and the appliance.
  • Develop embedded firmware and serial/USB host communication; build USB video acquisition and processing.
  • Implement image-analysis algorithms for automated inspection, measurement, and pass/fail grading.
  • Develop Windows GUI applications and REST APIs for factory automation, test stations, and data systems.
  • Develop, test, debug, and maintain software; contribute through requirements, prototyping, integration, production support, and customer feedback.
  • Prepare user manuals, interface specifications, and test procedures; participate in Agile teamwork and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications and capabilities

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional C/C++/C# software development; industry imaging, machine-vision, or inspection experience.
  • Experience delivering products spanning embedded firmware and a PC application.
  • Embedded programming and low-level interfaces, including Atmel/Microchip AVR or SAM and UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, timers, and USB.
  • USB video experience with UVC cameras, DirectShow or Media Foundation, frame capture, buffering, and real-time display.
  • REST API design with JSON and HTTP; classical image processing and inspection metrics.
  • Windows development using .NET, WPF or WinForms, Qt, Visual Studio, and WinAPI, including native/managed interop.
  • Ability to debug hardware and software across the stack; strong problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and collaboration.

Preferred qualifications

  • Digital microscopy, fiber-optic inspection, or related optical inspection experience.
  • Python; machine learning for image analysis; embedded Linux on ARM.
  • Git, Jira, CI/CD, and Agile Scrum familiarity.
  • Product documentation or manufacturing test support in a regulated or ISO-quality environment.
  • Mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, or guiding a small cross-disciplinary software team.

Pay range

  • The posting lists a pay range of 102,200 to 189,800; it does not state the compensation cadence or currency in the provided text.
  • The posting says qualifications, experience, and location may affect salary and mentions benefits and a bonus program.
