Development Lead, R&D

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Contribute to initial program and product definition with product line management and multidisciplinary teams.
• Coordinate front-end research programs, prototypes, evaluations, and reports.
• Develop or support requirements, specifications, and test plans for new product development.
• Manage R&D schedules and provide input to resourcing plans.
• Support gate reviews, progress updates, and issue escalations with the Project Manager.
• Participate in technical reviews and potentially lead reviews in the area of expertise.
• Support transition from development through new product introduction to factory deployment.
• Potentially provide product-family design authority, roadmap and architecture input, lifecycle R&D support, and help with factory or customer technical issues.

Required qualifications

• Degree in Physics or Engineering Physics; advanced degrees in these fields are preferred.
• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degrees may be considered with optics experience.
• Proven product or systems development background.
• At least 5 years of new product development experience.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in a collaborative environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail in compliance matrices and technical reports.
• Experience presenting technical information to management.

Compensation

• The posting lists a pay range of 100,219 to 186,121; no compensation cadence or currency is specified.
