About Vasco
Vasco builds a revenue context layer for AI agents, structuring CRM, billing, call, and support data into a semantic layer with sourced metrics and deterministic answers.
The company builds agents that automate manual work and aims to help go-to-market teams make decisions using trusted data.
About the role
The Software Engineer will build core systems that give AI agents context, metrics, and playbooks, working with product designers and engineering teams including DevOps, Platform, Data, and Agents.

This is not an entry-level role. The company is open to different seniority levels and expects autonomy, accountability, technical decision-making, and ownership appropriate to experience.

What you will do
- Design, build, and ship backend systems, including a context graph and metric engine where formula accuracy matters.
- Own full feature slices, including frontend and data visualization when required, with human review scaled to risk.
- Shape solutions with design, engineering, and go-to-market teammates; translate intent into implementation context and follow releases through adoption.
- Build services that handle customer revenue data safely and own infrastructure and security for components you build, with DevOps guidance and tooling.
- Build backend harnesses and blueprints that define standards for AI-assisted implementation.
- Own production incidents, fix issues, and communicate quickly and transparently so the team learns of problems before customers.
What we're looking for
- At least four years building customer-facing systems, with technical decisions tied to the customer problems those systems solve.
- Experience designing, building, and operating production backend services and designing complete systems with the feature's broader context in mind.
- Comfort working on a data-heavy infrastructure product; experience with GCP, BigQuery, Node.js, TypeScript, Terraform, or equivalents in other clouds is ideal.
- AI coding tools are central to your shipping workflow; you own and can defend your output and build checks that support evidence-based releases.
- Experience making consequential decisions and explaining the reasoning behind them.
- Clear communication of technical trade-offs as business impact for audiences including developers and cofounders.
- Enjoys teamwork, involves others in their work, and contributes to team culture.
Differentiators
- Production services experience in Rust or Go is a plus; the company is considering these alongside TypeScript and Node.js for high-performance, type-safe workloads.
- Experience building production data or context layers consumed by AI agents, including context graph architectures, is a plus.
- Data engineering or DevOps range—including SQL, data modeling, pipelines, infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability—is a plus.
- Experience with semantic layers or BI tools such as Cube, and an interest in precise formulas and numbers, is a plus.
Why Vasco
- Offers a small team, early-stage ownership, autonomy, opportunities to experiment and learn, stock options, uncapped paid time off, generous parental leave, and employer-paid health benefits for employees and dependents.
- The company describes compensation as within the top of the national market, without stating a specific amount or pay cadence.
Where you'll work
- Hybrid in Montreal, with three in-person days per week: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, at WeWork Place Ville-Marie downtown.
Hiring process and checks
- Hiring stages are a discovery call, hiring manager interview, technical challenge and interview, and final interview with the CEO.
- A background check is required before starting. AI may be used for interview note-taking, and candidates may opt out without impact on candidacy.
