Site Manager – Cargo Handling Systems

Role overview

Site delivery and coordination

• Manage mobilization, installation, testing, commissioning, final handover, and demobilization of cargo handling systems.
• Lead installation and integration of electrical, mechanical, controls, conveyor, and material handling equipment.
• Coordinate subcontractors and internal Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Controls, Commissioning, and Project Management teams.
• Monitor schedule progress, identify delays and risks, and develop recovery actions.
• Manage manpower, resources, installation priorities, site logistics, and material availability.
• Coordinate airport access, permits, operational requirements, stakeholder approvals, and interfaces with customers, contractors, consultants, and vendors.

Quality, safety, and project controls

• Follow approved drawings, specifications, installation methods, inspection procedures, and quality requirements.
• Take responsibility for site safety and comply with applicable legislation, security requirements, permit-to-work processes, and environmental and accident-prevention rules.
• Maintain records of progress, costs, schedules, variations, delays, claims, and site instructions; prepare progress reports and project documentation.
• Identify scope deviations and provide supporting information for change notifications and variation claims.
• Coordinate decisions with scheduling, financial, contractual, or legal impact with the Project Manager and Commercial Project Manager.
• Support commissioning, system integration, punch-list closure, final acceptance, operational handover, training, and documentation close-out.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in site installation, industrial automation, or material handling projects.
• Strong experience in cargo handling, material handling, conveyors, automated logistics, or similar industrial automation environments.
• At least 3 years leading site engineers, supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of installation, testing, commissioning, integration, and project handover; sound understanding of electrical systems and industrial automation equipment.
• Strong site management knowledge covering scheduling, installation methods, quality control, logistics, cost monitoring, and subcontractor management.

Tools and additional qualifications

• Primavera P6 or similar project scheduling tools are preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, REVIT, ePlan, or similar engineering applications is requested.
• PLC and SCADA knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills are required; experience in multicultural, international project environments is preferred.
• Willingness to travel and work on projects outside the UAE when required.
