Works in the MaK Middle East FZCO workshop in Dubai, servicing, maintaining, overhauling, and repairing MaK medium-speed marine engine components.
The role requires independent work, broad mechanical skills, basic diagnostics, and familiarity with workshop machinery, tooling, and marine engines.
Goes aboard vessels to service engine components when required.
Service, machining, and repair
- Service, overhaul, and repair engine components including cylinder-head valve stems, valve-seat inserts, valve guides, cylinder liners, fuel injection pumps, injectors, pistons, connecting rods, and turbochargers.
- Perform in-place field machining of engine components, including cylinder-block liner landing surfaces.
- Operate lathes, milling, cutting, grinding, honing, lapping, heating, welding, lifting, and hoisting equipment safely.
- Machine, lap, grind, and custom-fabricate steel parts to high standards and tolerances.
Inspection, reporting, and quality
- Measure and calibrate parts with micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, Vernier gauges, and feeler gauges.
- Inspect, test, and analyze components; use crack-testing equipment to assess condition.
- Prepare workshop calibration and service reports.
- Replace parts and assemblies, reassemble engine components, and conduct required quality-assurance testing.
Troubleshooting and work practices
- Follow workshop workflow processes and work from service manuals, maintenance manuals, technical information, and equipment schematics.
- Perform failure analysis and troubleshooting using experience and good judgment.
- Communicate with technical staff, employees, and vendors; use basic soldering and brazing skills as needed.

- Knowledge of 5S housekeeping and sustaining standardized workplace practices.
- Problem-solving, service excellence, mechanical and machinery knowledge, and technical troubleshooting.
- Decision-making, critical thinking, planning, and organizing.
- Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance principles and processes.
Top-candidate qualifications
- Eight years of similar marine or large medium-speed engine component workshop servicing, repair, machining, or equivalent experience or schooling is listed under top-candidate qualifications.
- Demonstrate good mechanical comprehension and strong communication with technical staff, customers, and fellow employees.
