Role purpose and reporting
Manage and develop the downstream energy account for the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region.
The role reports directly to SEO, TMHCCC International (DIFC) Limited, and functionally to the Head of Downstream Energy in London.
Underwriting and business development
- Underwrite new and renewal downstream energy business and, where applicable, other energy lines within delegated authority, using sound judgment, appropriate pricing, and disciplined risk selection.
- Develop profitable opportunities, maintain broker relationships, and deliver production targets in line with the business plan.
- Maintain existing client relationships and develop new relationships to strengthen the company's international downstream energy market presence.
Portfolio and planning
- Monitor portfolio premium income, rate adequacy, loss experience, retention, and exposure accumulation to achieve sustainable profitability.
- Contribute to the annual business plan, budget, and portfolio forecasts, identifying profitable growth opportunities and performance improvements.
Exposure, pricing, and reserving
- Review and authorize catastrophe exposure aggregate reports within delegated authority, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with portfolio limits.
- Work with actuarial colleagues on benchmarking and rating models, portfolio analysis, and underwriting and pricing decisions.
- Work with actuarial colleagues and auditors on quarterly reserve projections, providing underwriting insight into loss development, large claims, and emerging trends.
Teamwork and strategy
- Collaborate with London Energy colleagues on consistent underwriting strategies, market intelligence, and development of the downstream energy underwriting team.
- Attend monthly executive meetings on behalf of Downstream Energy when required.
Essential experience and skills
- Extensive knowledge of the regional energy insurance market.
- Extensive regional broker and client relationships.
- Skill in risk assessment and financial analysis.
