Role overview

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end production release lifecycle for platform updates and customer-specific customizations; define and enforce release processes and standards.
• Maintain the release calendar and coordinate transparency and alignment across teams.
• Conduct readiness reviews and audit manifests covering SQL/PDF migrations, Temporal workflow versions, Kafka schemas, and AWS resource configurations.
• Manage instance parity across AWS environments and maintain customer-specific secrets and variables against global standards.
• Facilitate formal go/no-go decisions using technical and non-technical readiness checklists.
• Identify and mitigate sequencing risks, including database locks and stateful workflow conflicts.
• Monitor release performance, report metrics, and move from manual coordination toward automated production quality gates.
• Coordinate across engineering, QA, product, and client support to improve quality, predictability, and efficiency.

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of technical experience, with a background in software engineering, SRE, or backend operations.
• 5+ years of direct release management in a complex enterprise hybrid SaaS environment with multi-tenant and multi-instance deployments.
• Expert AWS knowledge covering EKS, RDS, Secrets Manager, IAM, S3, and MSK; able to audit infrastructure configurations.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, PHP, Go, and Node.js ecosystems and their deployment nuances.
• Hands-on experience or strong knowledge of Temporal and Kafka, including in-flight asynchronous workflow risks.
• Strong MySQL and PostgreSQL proficiency for auditing migrations and data sequencing.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes manifest auditing and canary, blue-green, or rolling deployment patterns.
• Excellent stakeholder management and authority to enforce discipline or halt releases when criteria are not met.

Preferred skills

• Insurance, financial services, or other regulated-industry experience is preferred.
• Security, SOC 2/ISO compliance, or audit-process knowledge related to release operations is preferred.
• Terraform or CloudFormation experience is preferred.
• SRE familiarity with error budgets and SLIs/SLOs is preferred.
