I. JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Technical Deployment Support at DirectFN is a senior, hands-on technical role responsible for leading the execution of complex software deployments across client and internal environments.

This role takes ownership of the most technically demanding deployments — configuring environments, running and validating deployment scripts, performing system integrations, and directing technical activity during go-live windows for DirectFN's capital markets platforms and financial technology solutions.

Working under the direction of the Deployment Manager, the role ensures deployments are executed accurately and reliably, mentors junior deployment and support engineers, and drives improvements to deployment runbooks, automation, and technical standards.

1. Deployment Execution & Leadership

  • Lead the execution of complex and high-risk software deployments for DirectFN's products across client-hosted, on-premises, and cloud environments following approved deployment runbooks.
  • Run and validate deployment scripts, automated installation packages, and configuration commands accurately and in the correct sequence, verifying outcomes at each stage.
  • Own pre-deployment environment validation and readiness checks, confirming all prerequisites are met before initiating any deployment activity.
  • Plan and execute database migration scripts, data loads, and schema updates for major releases, coordinating sequencing with engineering and infrastructure teams.

2. Environment Configuration & Setup

  • Configure and tune application servers, middleware, web servers, and related infrastructure components for new deployments or environment builds.
  • Set up and validate application configuration files, environment variables, connection strings, and integration parameters across multiple environments.
  • Build and prepare client environments (development, UAT, staging, production) to deployment-ready state in coordination with the client and infrastructure teams.

3. Go-Live Support & Oversight

  • Lead real-time technical support during go-live deployment windows, monitoring system behaviour and directing the resolution of issues as they arise.
  • Perform and oversee post-deployment smoke tests and functional validation checks to confirm successful deployment and system stability.
  • Execute and supervise rollback procedures promptly and accurately in the event of a deployment failure, in line with approved rollback plans.

4. Technical Troubleshooting & Escalation

  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues encountered during or immediately after deployments, including configuration errors, connectivity failures, and service startup problems.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for deployment issues, conducting root cause analysis and coordinating with engineering teams on systemic problems.
  • Maintain detailed deployment logs capturing all actions taken, issues encountered, and resolutions applied.

5. Mentoring & Knowledge Sharing

  • Mentor and guide junior deployment and support engineers, sharing deployment techniques, scripting practices, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Build and maintain deployment runbooks, environment setup guides, and technical knowledge bases for the team.
  • Reinforce deployment standards, sequencing discipline, and quality across the deployment team.

6. Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Identify and drive improvements to deployment processes, scripts, automation, and tooling to increase reliability and reduce manual effort.
  • Document all deployment activities accurately in DirectFN's deployment tracking system following each engagement.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of deployment standards and the supportability of DirectFN's product portfolio.

III. Qualifications & Requirements

○ Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

○ Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in software deployment, application support, or IT operations roles, including experience leading complex deployments.

○ Strong hands-on experience running and validating deployment scripts in Linux and Windows server environments.

○ Proficiency in command-line tools and scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.

○ Strong understanding of application server configuration (e.g., Tomcat, IIS, Nginx) and database deployment procedures.

○ Experience with version control systems (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and change management processes.

○ Ability to read, follow, and improve technical deployment runbooks and configuration documentation accurately.

○ Fluent in English (spoken and written).

IV. Prefer to Have

○ Experience deploying financial technology applications, trading platforms, or brokerage management systems.

○ Familiarity with cloud deployment environments (Azure, AWS, or OCI) and containerization basics (Docker).

○ Knowledge of deployment automation tools such as Ansible or equivalent.

○ Exposure to monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, PRTG, or Datadog) for post-deployment health checks.

○ ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent service management qualification.

V. Core Skills

○ Technical Leadership: Leads complex deployments accurately and methodically, setting the standard for execution quality.

○ Troubleshooting: Quickly diagnoses and resolves complex technical deployment issues under time pressure.

○ Attention to Detail: Follows and improves runbooks and checklists precisely, ensuring no steps are missed during deployments.

○ Mentorship: Develops junior deployment engineers and raises overall team capability.

○ Composure Under Pressure: Remains focused and decisive during high-stakes go-live deployment windows.

○ Collaboration: Works effectively with deployment, engineering, and infrastructure teams throughout the deployment lifecycle.

VI. Key Result Areas (KRAs)

○ Deployment Accuracy: Complex deployments executed correctly and in full accordance with approved runbooks with minimal errors or rework.

○ Go-Live Stability: Systems are stable and validated post-deployment, with issues identified and resolved promptly.

○ Issue Resolution: Complex deployment issues diagnosed and resolved or escalated quickly and with clear documentation.

○ Process Improvement: Measurable improvement in deployment reliability, automation, and runbook quality over time.

○ Team Capability: Well-supported, more capable junior deployment engineers across the team.
