Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Clarify authority requirements for design teams and check documents for completeness before submission.
• Review complex designs with authorities and ensure deliverables meet authority requirements at each design stage.
• Relay authority comments on complex designs to design teams and ensure comments are incorporated in subsequent submissions.
• Advise design teams on incorporating authority comments and requirements.
• Submit and discuss complex design deliverables to obtain NOCs and approvals for construction commencement.
• Resolve critical authority discrepancies and issues, escalating as needed.
• Coordinate approval of construction-phase design changes with authorities, project managers, and design support teams.
• Support coordination for non-complex designs and support supervision teams with permits as needed.
• Maintain relationships with relevant roads, utilities, planning, and other local authorities.
• Maintain an updated archive of local engineering and construction regulations and codes.
• Ensure necessary approvals and permits are obtained in time to support client satisfaction.
• Seek market intelligence on upcoming authority projects and share it with the Stakeholder Management Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture.
• At least 8 years in the Architecture, Engineering and Planning industry at a top-tier regional or multinational engineering consultancy, with design or authorities-coordination experience.
• In-depth knowledge of engineering standards and codes and sound knowledge of local authority regulations, codes, and guidelines.
• Solid knowledge of engineering design.
• Good communication, organization, and planning skills.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic.
• Experience coordinating with authorities on large regional projects.
