Role overview

The DevEX Senior Staff Developer leads Developer Experience and SDLC modernization across Benevity's technology organization.

The role combines hands-on platform engineering, process evolution, technical leadership, and AI-assisted development enablement.

The position reports to the Director of Engineering and works with architects, developers, security, and product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead DevX and SDLC technical direction across domains, enabling AI-DLC and agentic automation.
  • Design and scale agentic systems for the software development lifecycle and make AI a useful extension of engineering practice while keeping human judgment and security involved.
  • Build reusable developer platform architecture on public cloud infrastructure and guide organizational DevX and AI-DLC strategy with Principal Architects.
  • Translate business needs into adoptable platform solutions and solve challenges involving development environments, CI/CD supply chains, authentication, and quality gates.
  • Diagnose adoption friction, influence workflows, and turn shared tools and components into organization-wide standards.
  • Build DevSecOps and cloud-native security into the delivery stack; create technical documentation, enablement guides, and implementation processes.
  • Develop platform, agentic, and product proof-of-concepts; mentor senior developers and participate in architectural reviews.

Qualifications and experience

  • Hands-on DevX experience building internal developer platforms, golden-path templates, automated quality gates, and shared engineering component libraries.
  • 8+ years of scalable software development experience with software design accountability.
  • 2+ years in technical leadership driving organization-wide platform capabilities or engineering productivity.
  • Expertise in DevX, SDLC tooling, or engineering productivity systems; hands-on experience with AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, and LLM tooling.
  • Strong grasp of cloud infrastructure, API-first design, loosely coupled systems, and modern software architecture.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code, DevSecOps, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience coding in Python or Java and familiarity with FastAPI or Spring Boot.
  • Familiarity with AWS or GCP cloud-native infrastructure; Azure is a bonus.
  • Strong communication, ability to influence adoption, and commitment to secure, ethical, inclusive engineering practices.

Technical skills

  • Developer Experience, internal developer platforms, SDLC tooling, AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, and LLM tooling.
  • Public cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure-as-Code, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native security.
  • Python or Java; frameworks include FastAPI or Spring Boot. Cloud examples include AWS, GCP, and bonus Azure experience.
  • Engineering systems may include Jira, CI, and observability integrations.

Work arrangement

  • Benevity describes its work approach as flexible hybrid, with no set in-office time for employees near an office.
