Position overview

Senior Software Engineer (Level 18), focused on Platform & Integration within Risk & Corporate Services.

Acts as a technical decision owner designing, integrating, and governing platform-based solutions in a complex, increasingly AI-enabled enterprise.

The role emphasizes orchestration, integration, and decision ownership; success is measured by system outcomes and resilience, not code volume.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and integrate enterprise platform and service solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with EDC standards.
  • Own architectural integrity and integration decisions; evaluate trade-offs and guide automation versus human oversight.
  • Govern safe and responsible AI-enabled delivery and remain accountable for outputs.
  • Validate AI-assisted code, designs, and workflows for accuracy, reliability, and standards alignment.
  • Develop secure, scalable, performant solutions, including APIs, cloud-native components, and integrations.
  • Ensure reliability, support defect resolution, and manage quality and risk.
  • Contribute to integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations and track emerging technologies.

Role expectations

  • Technology decisions must be scalable, secure, and aligned with business and platform objectives, enterprise standards, and risk controls.
  • AI-assisted outputs require governance, accountability, and human oversight.

Workplace and locations

  • EDC describes the work environment as hybrid, currently requiring three days per week, subject to change.
  • The role may be performed from Ottawa headquarters or a Community Hub in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, or Brossard.
  • Relocation assistance is available to eligible candidates.

Compensation

  • Software Engineer 18 salaries typically range from $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experience, plus a performance-based incentive.

Benefits and development

  • EDC describes benefits, paid vacation, a corporate closure period, summer early Fridays, no-meeting Fridays, learning opportunities, wellness programs, and community engagement.
