Role overview

What you'll do

• Design, build, test, and deploy scalable full-stack applications for CLEAR's identity platform.
• Own projects from discovery and architecture through implementation, rollout, and operational support.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, Security, and Operations to develop scalable technical solutions.
• Improve reliability, performance, testing, observability, and developer experience.
• Contribute to architecture and improve platform scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews, collaboration, and engineering best practices.

What you're great at

• At least 6 years of professional full-stack software engineering experience building production applications with technologies such as Java, React, and TypeScript.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and modern software architecture.
• Experience building and operating cloud-native applications using AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Track record of owning complex cross-functional projects from idea to production.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort with ambiguity, thoughtful tradeoffs, and independently driving work forward.
• Collaborative mindset, with interest in mentoring and improving engineering practices.

Hiring process

Compensation

• Total compensation range is $225,000 to $300,000, depending on skills and experience.
• The range combines base salary and a new-hire restricted stock unit equity package; eligible employees may receive refresh equity grants.
• Actual compensation varies based on factors including location, education, skills, experience, and performance.
