Senior Software Engineer (Java Backend)

Role overview

What you'll do

• Develop large-scale applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
• Participate in code reviews and improve development processes.
• Debug and resolve issues; produce high-quality, maintainable code.
• Document designs, implementations, and best practices and promote technical standards.
• Contribute to technical project planning and execution.
• Coordinate with product and design teams and investigate solutions to complex mobile challenges.

What you'll bring

• Hands-on Java backend and cloud-based solutions experience; proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
• Experience delivering scalable Java data-processing applications and designing data-intensive systems.
• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals, microservices, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
• CI/CD experience, including tools such as Git, Maven, and Jenkins.
• Experience writing modular, testable code and unit, functional, and integration tests.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud-native development, concurrency, RESTful services, caching, and ORM tools.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Minimum and preferred qualifications

• Minimum: a relevant bachelor's degree and three years of software engineering experience, or five years of software engineering experience.
• Preferred: a related master's degree with one year of software engineering experience.
• Preferred: knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
