About Us

The Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Go),

• will play a critical role in architecting, scaling, and maintaining backend services that power Core42’s platform.
• This role requires deep technical expertise, ownership mindset, and the ability to lead complex backend initiatives while mentoring other engineers.
• You will design high-performance, secure, and reliable systems that support mission-critical business operations.
• You will also develop PaaS services using Go, including Kubernetes operators, provisioning workflows, and managed service adapters.
• Your key responsibilities
• Cloud-Native Architecture & API Design: Architect and develop high-performance, scalable microservices and RESTful/gRPC APIs using Python (FastAPI/Flask). Design services specifically for cloud-native deployment on Azure.
• System Scalability & Performance: Optimize backend performance through effective concurrency management (AsyncIO), caching strategies, and efficient resource utilization. Identify and resolve bottlenecks in distributed systems.
• Advanced Data Modeling: Design and maintain optimized schemas for SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis) databases. Implement robust data consistency and migration patterns across distributed environments.
• Reliability & Resilience Engineering: Own the "Day 2" operations of services by implementing circuit breakers, rate limiting, and graceful degradation to ensure mission-critical uptime.
• Observability & Proactive Monitoring: Implement comprehensive logging, distributed tracing, and real-time metrics (Prometheus/Grafana/Azure Monitor) to maintain deep visibility into service health and performance.
• Cloud Infrastructure & IaC Collaboration: Partner with DevOps to define Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep) and ensure backend services are seamlessly integrated into automated CI/CD pipelines for zero-downtime deployments.
• Security-First Development: Enforce backend security best practices, including OAuth2/OIDC implementation, encryption of data at rest and in transit, and secure API gateway management.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Drive engineering excellence by leading design reviews, defining coding standards, and mentoring mid-level engineers to foster a culture of technical growth.
• Cross-Functional Strategy: Collaborate with Product, and DevOps teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable, production-ready backend architectures.

Go & Kubernetes Responsibilities

• PaaS Service Development: Develops PaaS services using Go, including Kubernetes operators, provisioning workflows, and managed service adapters.
• Kubernetes Operator Development: Design and implement Kubernetes operators using client-go and controller-runtime to automate lifecycle management of managed services.
• Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs): Design and implement CRDs and Operators that define API contracts for cloud services with proper schemas and validation rules.
• Reconciliation & State Management: Implement robust reconciliation loops with proper finalizers, owner references, and error handling to ensure desired state convergence.
• Helm Chart Development: Create and maintain Helm charts with proper chart structure, values, and templates for deploying platform components.
• What we’re looking for
• (a) Required skills / qualifications
• Masters’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• 7+ years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python with experience using FastAPI, Flask, and other backend frameworks.
• Expertise in designing RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed backend architectures.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-native application development.
• Deep understanding of scalability, caching, concurrency, and backend performance optimization.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized deployments.
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Strong ability to influence engineering direction and drive best practices.
• Experience with message queues and event-driven architecture (Event Hub, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Knowledge of containerization, orchestration (Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools used in modern DevOps.
• Expert proficiency in Go 1.21+ with strong understanding of concurrency patterns (goroutines, channels, sync primitives).
• Advanced experience with Go web frameworks (GoFiber, Gin, or Echo).
• Strong Kubernetes expertise including client-go (Clientsets, Dynamic client, Informers) and controller-runtime.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes Controllers (Reconciliation loop, Finalizers, Owner refs) and Resources (Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets).
• Experience with Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) and Kubernetes Operators development.
• Knowledge of RBAC (Roles, RoleBindings, ServiceAccounts) for Kubernetes security.
• Hands-on experience with Helm (Chart structure, Values, Templates).
• Intermediate knowledge of Kafka and gRPC for messaging and service communication.
• Advanced proficiency with Go testing frameworks (Go testing, Testify, Mocks).
• (b) Preferred skills / qualifications
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proven experience in providing technical leadership and mentoring junior developers.
• Certification in Azure cloud services, AI application development
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
• Experience building cloud platforms or PaaS services.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and multi-cloud strategies (Azure + AWS/GCP)
• Good to have: Frontend development experience using React, React Native, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
• Good to have: Experience with OpenShift and OpenStack.
