Senior Software Engineer, Core Platform

Role Overview

Responsibilities

• Develop and design solutions for scaling Reddit and build API platform projects used across the organization.
• Build, deliver, and operate services handling hundreds of thousands of transactions per second with five or more nines of availability.
• Optimize Reddit's media experience and help create a roadmap for a growing engineering organization.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers on the direct team.

Required Qualifications

• Software development experience in Golang or Python.
• At least 5 years of experience with large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to partner effectively with teams in a fully remote environment.
• Familiarity with API platform service architectures.
• History of building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Media delivery expertise from backend systems through the user, including media performance, scalability, and delivery optimization.

Compensation

• The base salary range for the position is $190,800 to $267,100 USD yearly.
• The role may also include equity, possible commission eligibility depending on the position offered, and employee benefits.
