Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Card Ledger & Money Movement)

Role Overview

What You'll Do

• Own and deliver quarterly team goals, lead engineers through ambiguous problems, and support the team throughout delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation, communicate technical constraints, and contribute to decisions weighing risks and trade-offs.
• Identify project, process, technology, and business issues; advocate for solutions and lead resolution.
• Support system operation and availability with metrics, escalation, and on-call and keep-the-lights-on efforts.
• Set or improve code review and design standards and promote them through writing and tech talks.
• Develop team talent by providing feedback and guidance and leading by example.

What We Look For

• At least 4 years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components and delivering elegant, simple, extensible designs.
• Write high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
• Proficiency making significant changes in a large codebase and using tools and practices to do so safely.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
• A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Base Pay

• Base pay ranges are $195,000–$255,000 for the listed Pacific states and $173,000–$233,000 for other U.S. states.
• Compensation may include equity rewards, monthly health, wellness, and technology stipends, and benefits.
