The Senior Backend Software Engineer will contribute to CoreConnect and develop a scalable Hexagonal Backend API service for the commercial ecosystem.
The role emphasizes system reliability, product impact, autonomy, technical pragmatism, ownership, and comfort navigating ambiguity.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable Kotlin/Spring Boot backend services using Hexagonal Architecture for fleet orchestration.
- Manage Postgres/PostGIS and TimescaleDB data layers and develop a unified abstraction layer for diverse autonomous-vehicle APIs.
- Drive real-time data engineering and resolve high-frequency data-ingestion bottlenecks to ensure sub-second latency.
- Enforce platform security and observability, including multi-tenant architecture, row-level security, and RBAC.
- Partner with Product, Engineering Leadership, and DevSecOps to deliver high-quality solutions and measurable business outcomes.
- Mentor engineers, lead rigorous code reviews, introduce process improvements, and foster operational excellence.
Experience and education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or another relevant field.
- 5+ years of professional Java or Kotlin and Spring Boot experience delivering well-tested, complex systems in a SaaS startup environment.
Technical qualifications
- Deep proficiency in distributed systems, Hexagonal Architecture, and scalable API design.
- Expertise in SQL (PostgreSQL), geospatial data (GIS/PostGIS), and time-series data (TimescaleDB).
- Experience architecting low-latency WebSockets or MQTT communication and building abstraction layers for third-party vendor APIs.
- Hands-on experience with automated unit and integration test suites, SAST, DAST, and platform observability tooling.
Execution and complementary expertise
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, balance architectural quality with commercial objectives, manage technical debt, ship MVPs, and own the code lifecycle and incident management.
- Practical React or Next.js and TypeScript experience is listed as complementary expertise.
- AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Helm are listed as complementary expertise.
- Logistics, robotics, or fleet management experience is listed as complementary industry expertise.
- Fluency in Business English is required.
