Senior Software Developer in the Department for Business and Trade's Digital, Data and Technology directorate.
Design, build and operate robust, maintainable software across the full software development lifecycle.
Work in a multidisciplinary agile team to deliver digital services and solve complex technical problems.
Main responsibilities
- Design, build, test and maintain software to agreed architecture and coding standards.
- Develop and support services across development, testing, deployment, monitoring and production operations.
- Translate user needs and designs into working software and improve services using evidence and feedback.
- Develop REST APIs, web applications, microservices and containerised applications.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, improve reliability and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Review code, share knowledge and contribute to engineering practice improvements.
Essential requirements
- Strong experience developing REST APIs and/or web applications using Python and Django, with experience working with SQL.
- Experience designing, building and supporting microservices and containerised applications.
Locations and working pattern
- Advertised locations include Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Darlington, Edinburgh, London and Manchester.
- Flexible working is available; the source lists full-time and part-time working patterns.
Pay and grade
- Salary range is £68,732 to £88,423, with separate London and national ranges; salary is determined by skills and capability assessed at interview.
- The role is Grade 7 and includes a Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%.
