The Senior Software Developer works in the Department for Business and Trade's Digital, Data and Technology directorate.
The team builds and operates digital services, data and AI products, internal tools, secure platforms, and cybersecurity services for businesses, colleagues, and citizens.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and maintain software that meets user needs and agreed architecture and coding standards.
- Work throughout the software lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and translate user needs into working software.
- Develop REST APIs, web applications, microservices, and containerised applications.
- Investigate incidents, resolve root causes, improve reliability, and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Review code, share knowledge, support colleagues, and improve engineering practices.
Person specification
- Strong experience developing REST APIs and/or web applications using Python and Django, with SQL experience; identified as the lead criterion.
- Experience designing, building, and supporting microservices and containerised applications using technologies such as D; the supplied description ends mid-item.
Salary
- The listed salary range is £68,732–£88,423, with separate London and national ranges; salary determination depends on skills and capability assessed at interview.
