Job Purpose
The Senior Site Engineer – Structures oversees structural construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
The role ensures works follow approved drawings, project specifications, contract requirements, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
The engineer supports the Resident Engineer and provides technical leadership, contractor oversight, and mentoring to junior engineers and inspectors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- At least 10 years of postgraduate structural site supervision experience and at least 5 years of UAE/GCC experience on major building projects.
- Experience in an engineering consultancy or multidisciplinary consultancy environment.
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steel, temporary works, UAE Building Codes, structural design standards, and construction practices.
- Experience on commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use, and high-rise developments.
- Data centre project experience is advantageous; professional registration or Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Inspect structural works and review shop drawings, reinforcement details, temporary works designs, method statements, and material submittals.
- Supervise concrete and structural steel works and verify installation, placement, curing, workmanship, and compliance.
- Witness concrete pours, reinforcement inspections, and structural testing; review mix designs, material tests, and laboratory results.
- Prepare NCRs, SORs, RFIs, and snag lists; monitor contractor quality procedures and corrective action close-out.
- Coordinate structural interfaces and BIM coordination with other disciplines, identifying clashes and constructability concerns.
- Attend technical meetings, advise on structural issues and contractor proposals, and monitor construction progress and programme risks.
- Maintain inspection and engineering decision records and mentor site inspectors and junior engineers.
- Promote quality, safety, and continuous improvement in project delivery.
General Expectations
Act as the structural technical authority within the project team and support the Resident Engineer in meeting project objectives.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical coaching to Site Inspectors and junior engineers.
Demonstrate communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
