Role overview

Tangerine is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer for its Quality Engineering team.

The role focuses on ETL testing, data validation, source-to-target reconciliation, transformation testing, and end-to-end data-pipeline validation in data warehouse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to resolve data quality issues.
  • Participate in requirements reviews, mapping sessions, and design discussions; define test strategies and create test cases.
  • Validate data accuracy, completeness, and integrity using SQL, backend testing, reconciliation, and transformation testing.
  • Test ETL workflows and data movement across source, staging, and target environments, including structured, semi-structured, and JSON data.
  • Build and maintain automated validation, reconciliation, and regression tests; improve reusable testing frameworks.
  • Own test planning, execution, defect management, reporting, and sign-off for assigned EDW initiatives; support release readiness.
  • Maintain QA artifacts, test cases, results, and defect logs in Jira, Confluence, and project repositories.

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on ETL testing, data validation, source-to-target reconciliation, transformation testing, and end-to-end pipeline validation in data warehouse environments.
  • Strong SQL, backend testing, ETL validation, and complex BigQuery query experience.
  • Understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, data modeling, and data quality principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, BigQuery, Informatica PowerCenter, Airflow/Cloud Composer, and GCP data services.
  • Experience validating structured, semi-structured, and JSON data across source, staging, and target systems.
  • Experience developing ETL test automation using Python, SQL, or similar technologies.
  • Ability to own testing activities and sign-off for EDW initiatives.

Technology stack and nice-to-haves

  • Cloud and data platforms include Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, and Cloud Composer.
  • ETL and data integration includes Informatica PowerCenter; databases include Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Testing and automation use SQL, Python, and ETL test automation; tools include Jira and Confluence.
  • Nice to have: Git/GitHub, CI/CD tools, Adobe platforms, and an ISTQB certificate.
