Senior Project Planner (Microsoft Project)

About This Role

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain fully logic-linked Level 3-5 schedules using Microsoft Project
• Cover full project lifecycle including drilling, workover, well construction, completions, interventions, mobilization, and rig moves
• Establish standardized WBS, activity coding, calendars, and sequencing
• Prepare baseline, recovery, and mitigation schedules in coordination with project and operations teams

Progress Measurement & Control

• Define and apply appropriate progress measurement methods (physical %, unit-based, duration-based, day rate)
• Validate progress inputs from field and service teams
• Perform critical path analysis, float monitoring, and schedule risk assessments
• Assess schedule impacts related to changes, variations, and operational disruptions

Forecasting & Reporting

• Produce periodic planning reports including lookahead schedules (14/30 day), milestone tracking, and S-curves
• Deliver schedule forecasts and scenario analysis to support operational decisions
• Support planning reviews, audits, and stage-gate processes

Project Controls Integration

• Interface with project management, operations, cost control, and commercial teams
• Align planning structures with cost frameworks and commercial models
• Ensure consistency between scheduling, cost tracking, and earned value reporting
• Support integration with enterprise systems where applicable

Leadership & Governance

• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior planners
• Review contractor and subcontractor schedules for compliance
• Support continuous improvement of planning standards and methodologies

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field
• 10+ years of planning experience in oil & gas projects
• At least 5 years in senior or lead planning roles
• Strong exposure to integrated services, drilling, or well construction environments
• Experience managing multi-rig and fast-track projects

Technical Skills

• Expert proficiency in Microsoft Project
• Strong knowledge of CPM scheduling and critical path analysis
• Experience in baseline control, change management, and recovery planning
• Understanding of drilling and oilfield service execution workflows
• Advanced Excel and reporting capability

Preferred Certifications
