Senior Project Manager

Work location and travel

• Office-based work is preferred, with flexible working opportunities.
• The role requires regular travel to projects and client sites across the UK as appropriate.

Role overview

Key focus

• Support management, governance, performance and prioritisation across the UK project portfolio.
• Lead complex and high-value projects, managing client relationships, programme, cost, quality, safety and project risk.
• Coordinate engineering, commercial, procurement, QHSE, commissioning and site delivery teams.
• Manage senior stakeholders across clients, supply chain and internal leadership teams.
• Coach Project Managers and delivery personnel, promoting consistent standards and continuous improvement.

Project delivery duties

• Be accountable for client, time, cost, quality, health, safety and environmental performance on assigned projects.
• Lead project reviews and ensure robust reporting, forecasting, governance and timely escalation.
• Develop and maintain project execution plans, programmes, schedules and recovery plans.
• Manage project risks and opportunities and monitor actions across the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate design information and resolve technical interfaces and constraints.
• Ensure safe, efficient site delivery of construction, installation, testing, commissioning and handover.

Commercial and portfolio duties

• Lead value engineering, constructability and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to supply chain strategy and selection, oversee supplier and subcontractor performance, and intervene when needed.
• Lead contract administration and change control, including notices, variations and claims as applicable.
• Maintain budget management, cost forecasting, cash flow awareness and recovery of contractual entitlement with the Commercial team.
• Support portfolio resource planning, workload balancing, project allocation, succession planning and capability needs.
• Support standardised project processes, tools, lessons learned and performance measures; undertake project assurance and peer reviews where required.

Requirements

• Provide senior leadership across multiple projects and project teams, with direct accountability for assigned complex or high-value projects.
• Manage client, time, cost, quality, health and safety, and environmental performance across assigned projects.
• Coordinate engineering, commercial, procurement, QHSE, commissioning and site delivery teams.
• Maintain senior client and stakeholder relationships and manage expectations.
• Lead project reviews, reporting, forecasting, governance and escalation of issues.
• Develop and maintain project execution plans, programmes, schedules and recovery plans.
• Manage project risks and opportunities and monitor mitigation actions across the project lifecycle.
• Oversee quality planning, safe site arrangements, statutory compliance and construction through handover.
• Lead value engineering, constructability and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate design information and resolve technical interfaces and constraints.
• Oversee supplier and subcontractor performance and contribute to supply chain strategy and selection.
• Manage contract administration, change control, commercial control, budgets, cost forecasts and cash flow with the Commercial team.
