Role overview

The Electrical Asset Engineer reports to the Asset Manager and manages electrical asset condition, reliability, performance, and lifecycle optimization across wastewater treatment plants and associated O&M facilities.

The role supports asset strategy through data management, condition assessment, reliability analysis, maintenance optimization, failure investigation, lifecycle planning, and renewal identification.

Asset management and reliability

  • Develop electrical asset management plans and manage asset lifecycles from acquisition and commissioning through operation, maintenance, refurbishment, replacement, and disposal.
  • Maintain electrical asset registers and assess asset health, useful life, criticality, and renewal requirements.
  • Monitor LV/MV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, generators, UPS systems, batteries, electrical panels, motors, distribution, lighting, and earthing.
  • Develop maintenance strategies, analyze failure and maintenance records, support condition monitoring and root-cause analysis, and monitor reliability measures.
  • Identify obsolete, deteriorated, underperforming, or high-risk assets and recommend mitigation, refurbishment, replacement, or renewal.

Projects, records, and reporting

  • Provide procurement and project input; review electrical specifications, datasheets, drawings, submissions, and commissioning documents.
  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams, OEMs, suppliers, contractors, and service providers on technical issues and asset performance.
  • Maintain accurate records in CMMS, ERP, or asset management systems; support lifecycle-cost assessments and renewal forecasts.
  • Prepare condition, reliability, risk, failure, maintenance, replacement-priority, and lifecycle-cost reports and promote continuous improvement.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Typically 5–8 years of relevant experience in electrical asset management, maintenance, reliability, or engineering.
  • Experience in wastewater treatment, water utilities, infrastructure, industrial plants, or O&M is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical maintenance, reliability, condition assessment, and lifecycle management; experience with CMMS, ERP, or asset management systems.
  • Strong analytical, technical reporting, and problem-solving skills; fluent English.
