The Senior Principal Package Management Specialist solves complex package management challenges and influences project and discipline direction and resource allocation.
The role is a specialist in Package Management with broad Supply Chain knowledge and may manage multiple package managers or own package management processes.
Package delivery
- Own delivery of assigned engineered packages through the project lifecycle, including critical, high-value purchase orders and subcontracts.
- Drive Engineering, Supply Chain, QHSES, and suppliers to deliver packages on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate functions and discipline engineers to resolve bottlenecks and complete deliverables on time.
- Serve as the formal post-award contact for assigned package vendors and maintain client and vendor relationships.
- Identify, document, quantify, escalate, and manage delivery risks and mitigations.
- Track costs, commitments, changes, forecasts, and budget variances; manage commercial interfaces and formal correspondence.
- Monitor engineering deliverables, long-lead procurement, sub-orders, manufacturing, testing, and package progress.
- Coordinate vendor and client meetings and report schedule progress and anomalies to project management.
- Administer contracts, variations, Management of Change, and Project Change Notices; ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Oversee package team performance and resource allocation, and resolve conflicts between departments or with the client.
- Ensure vendor documentation and handover meet schedule and contractual needs and products are fit for purpose.
- Promote quality, safety, environmental, and project execution requirements; maintain contingency plans and lessons learned.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a relevant discipline.
- 10–16 years of relevant experience.
- Well-versed in prime and vendor contractual obligations.
- Substantial commercial, technical, and business acumen, with written and verbal communication skills.
Reporting relationships
Functionally reports to the Area Package Management Lead; on the project, reports to the SCM Lead with a dotted line to the Project Manager.
