Role overview

Senior NDT Technician completes inspection assignments with limited supervision and serves as an informal resource for colleagues with less inspection experience.

The role applies established analytical processes and procedures, resolves atypical or infrequent issues using precedents, and directly affects team work quality.

Inspection duties

  • Examine welds and materials using qualified methods such as UT, PT, MT, RT, PAUT, or ET, in line with the project NDT plan, procedures, codes, and contract specifications.
  • Perform examinations using approved NDT procedures and internationally recognized codes and specifications.
  • Determine acceptance or rejection, assess results accurately, and report weld dispositions against applicable acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate task completion with the assigned Quality Inspector and report conforming and non-conforming work.
  • Ensure rectified work is inspected by the QC Inspector before examination using the original NDT method.

Equipment, reporting, and safety

  • Maintain NDT equipment and certification records; set up and calibrate equipment when necessary.
  • Ensure testing equipment is functional and operated in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Organize inspection and evaluation work and prepare reports, including NDT reports using software.
  • Follow company and customer safety standards, legal regulations, PPE requirements, and safe work practices; raise potential hazards.

Teamwork and training

  • Work independently and with remote NDT personnel while demonstrating professionalism and a positive internal and external customer-service attitude.
  • Mentor and train coworkers as assigned in safe work practices, technical skills, and company policy compliance.

Qualifications and education

  • High school diploma or degree.
  • At least five years as an NDT inspector in a relevant method.
  • Occupational qualification under an internationally recognized scheme, such as PCN, CSWIP, or ASNT; Level II qualification is specified.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft programs.
