Senior Java Software Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend systems using Java 18+, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services aligned with domain-driven design and clean architecture principles.
• Deploy, monitor, and manage applications on Microsoft Azure, including Azure Kubernetes Service and Microsoft SQL.
• Automate CI/CD build, test, and release workflows using Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with engineers, QA, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions; contribute to code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor application performance and reliability, implement proactive improvements and observability practices, and improve scalability and maintainability.
• Mentor team members and influence engineering standards and best practices.

Experience and qualifications

• The position heading states 8+ years of experience; the qualifications section states 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java 18+, Spring Boot, and object-oriented design principles.
• Experience with Azure Cloud Services or similar; hands-on Azure DevOps or similar experience with version control, pipelines, and deployments.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and asynchronous programming; working knowledge of SQL.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker containers, modern deployment strategies, secure coding, and API authentication using OAuth2 or OpenID Connect.

Preferred qualifications

• Exposure to Terraform, Bicep, or other infrastructure-as-code tools is preferred.
• Experience with event-driven architecture or message-based systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with unit testing and automation frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit, or Moq is preferred.
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Application Insights or Log Analytics is preferred.
• Financial services, legal tech, or enterprise systems background is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging; effective communication and collaboration; proactive learning and continuous improvement.

Shift

• Shift time is 12 PM–9 PM IST.
